How to Test Drive a Sports Car

buying used items

You should drive several models before you decide on one. It is important to test a sports vehicle for ride, handling, as well as responsiveness. It is important to have a car that has both stiff suspension and a responsive, powerful engine. It should also sound good.

Porsche 718 Boxster

The Porsche 718 Boxster sportscar is the two-seater, drop-top cousin to the seven18 Cayman coupe. Powered by a flat-four engine, this mid-mounted sports car delivers 340 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose a flat-six naturally aspirated engine in the 718 GTS 4.0. All engines are mid-mounted to route power to rear wheels.

Porsche Cayman

The Porsche Cayman is an incredibly fun sports car. The mid-engine platform and stiff body combine to create a car that is surprisingly agile and responsive. The car is also much more manageable than the Porsche 911 and the Boxster and its roomy cargo areas make it almost practical as a daily driver. However, Porsche Cayman sports cars are not for everyone. The base model is a great starting point for those who want to drive a sports car, but if performance is what you're after, you should go with the Cayman S.

FAQ

Is it worth learning to be a mechanic?

The answer to this question will depend on your goals for life. If you are looking for financial gain, then yes. However, if purpose and meaning are what you seek, then no.

If you don’t have any mechanical skills, it’s pointless to get into it. It will just waste your time. You won't become rich from it. It's unlikely that you will be famous. It's unlikely that it will change your life.

You would need to spend years learning how to do everything properly. Then you'd still have to pay someone else to fix your car when it breaks down. It's the reason most people don't bother. They find something better to do instead.

You can make a lot of money if you are looking to do well. But if you want to live a meaningful life, stay away from the mechanic's industry.

Does it matter where I go to college?

Not really. There is no difference in the programs offered by colleges for getting into automotive work. But, there are better programs at some schools than others. Look elsewhere if you want something more niche.

Is it hard to get a job working as an auto mechanic?

It is possible. Many garages list their vacancies online. Many people simply apply for the fun of it. Try applying to a few jobs and seeing if the garages accept student applications. If you don't know anyone working in the industry, ask your friends and relatives. They may be happy to recommend someone.

What qualifications are required to become a mechanic

You will need to pass several exams in order to become a mechanic. These exams include:

  • A general knowledge exam
  • Practical exam
  • An apprenticeship test

These tests are intended to make sure you have a solid understanding of the basics of mechanics before you can start your career as a mechanic.

You'll be eligible for work as a mechanic after you have passed the tests. However, you'll still need to complete an apprenticeship. This will involve trade training.

To learn all there is to know about fixing vehicles, you will need workshops and classes. You'll also have to work alongside experienced mechanics.

A mechanic must be highly focused and attentive to detail in order to succeed. Repairs to vehicles require you to pay attention to every detail.

You'll need patience and persistence to become a successful mechanic. This may not be the career path that you want if you aren't able to follow directions.

But if you love cars and enjoy fixing them, you could be very happy in this line of work.

Are you a mechanic or a technician? Do I have to study part-time?

Although a degree is not necessary, it can be helpful. Employers prefer applicants who have completed a full-time degree. It shows you are dedicated and have worked hard to achieve your goals.

You can still study while working, however. Some universities allow students the flexibility to finish coursework during summer vacations and resume their studies later in year. Some universities allow students to take part-time classes throughout the year.
